What is e-invoicing ?

An electronic invoice is issued, transmitted, and received in a structured digital format, allowing automated processing by IT systems.
Unlike paper invoices or simple PDFs, e-invoices contain structured data that can be automatically processed by accounting software and digital platforms.
Difference between e-invoices and PDF invoices
A simple PDF sent by email is not considered an electronic invoice under the reform.
A compliant e-invoice must:

allow automated data processing

be transmitted via a certified digital platform
A PDF remains a digital invoice — but not an e-invoice.
E-invoicing formats (Factur-X, UBL,CII)
The reform defines several structured e-invoicing formats:

These formats enable the transmission of structured data such as:
